Dr. Luke McCully: A Personal Journey with NUCCA Chiropractic
Though I’ve spent much of my adult life on the West Coast, my roots are here in Illinois. I grew up in Algonquin and graduated from Harry D. Jacobs High School, where I played basketball, baseball, and soccer. My passion for sports led me to the University of New Mexico, where I played collegiate soccer and earned my Bachelor of Science in Finance in 1999.
After graduation, I began my professional career at Goldman Sachs in Chicago. But working behind a desk left me feeling disconnected from the active lifestyle I once had—and old lower back injuries began to resurface. A childhood friend, who had become a chiropractor, helped treat my back pain and showed me the powerful impact chiropractic care could have on others. Inspired by that experience, I changed career paths and enrolled at Life Chiropractic College West in the San Francisco Bay Area, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2008.
Shortly after graduation, I suffered a serious setback—a disc herniation in my lower back that caused debilitating pain and muscle weakness in my right leg. After nine months of exploring nearly every traditional and alternative treatment option, I found myself on the verge of scheduling spinal surgery.
That’s when a colleague introduced me to NUCCA chiropractic care. I’ll never forget the night after my first NUCCA adjustment—my wife immediately noticed something different. I explained the process to her, and for the first time since my injury, I felt real hope. The results were almost immediate, and as the weeks passed, I noticed improvements not just in my back, but in other areas of my health as well.
My healing journey wasn’t linear—it included breakthroughs, plateaus, and occasional setbacks—but I was surrounded by skilled NUCCA chiropractors who supported and guided me. Over time, I experienced profound improvements in my physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
That journey inspired my deep commitment to NUCCA. I spent several years working in Seattle under an experienced NUCCA chiropractor, where I honed my skills and treated thousands of patients. Eventually, I opened my own NUCCA-focused practice in Santa Rosa, California, sharing the same life-changing care that transformed my own health.
Recently, my wife Cheryl and I made the decision to return to my hometown of Crystal Lake, Illinois with our two children, Maeve and Cormac. I’ve since opened a NUCCA Chiropractic practice in Crystal Lake, where I’m proud to serve my community with the highest standard of care.
